Photo Series Descriptions

Landscape of Grief

This photo series aims to explore how a hometown transforms over time and the sense of loss that comes with it. Familiar buildings and landmarks fade away, replaced by new structures, leaving people with a mix of nostalgia and sadness. The project contrasts these ever-changing urban landscapes with the enduring presence of nature, which serves as a constant reminder of home. Through photography, it reflects on how we navigate change, preserve memories, and come to terms with the passage of time.

Dichotomy

This photo series aims to examine the two contrasting sides of Thunder Bay—its breathtaking natural scenery and the struggles endured by its people. While many outsiders only see the city’s picturesque landmarks or its challenges, this project challenges that limited perspective. It encourages viewers to recognize the true beauty in the resilience and strength of the community, particularly Indigenous peoples who face racism and hardship. Through photography, the series seeks to shed light on the overlooked stories of those who persevere, fostering empathy and a deeper understanding.
