Threads of Truth
A storytelling and photography project,
allowing students to document truths about
our shared colonial history and its impact
For the past five years students in the Indigenous Studies programs across District School Board Ontario North East have been challenged to use these principles as they explored the role of storytelling through photography. As they learned more about the impacts of colonization and new truths revealed themselves, it became critical to give them an outlet to connect to their feelings while allowing them to physically contribute to a new narrative for their peers and community. They also worked with local Indigenous community members and photographers to help document the stories.
